Star Child offers nature-based experiences for children who are walking up to ten years old.
We are grateful to provide your children with “the trees for our walls, the earth for our carpet, and the sky for our roof.” We pride ourselves on offering small class sizes.
We invite you to visit! Come meet our teachers, join us for a lesson, tour the farm, participate in an art experience, try our yoga or Spanish classes, or feed the goats to experience firsthand what outdoor school is all about! Do you have a little one who loves being outdoors, no matter the weather? Do they struggle with using an inside voice and seem to have endless energy? Nature school might be a perfect fit! Children can embrace their loudness, stomping like dinosaurs to our outdoor classrooms, or tiptoe quietly to see their favorite bird.

Nature school connects children’s love of discovery, their need to be physical, their desire for sensory play, and their curiosity about the world. Our outdoor classrooms offer places to climb, build, play, create, learn, or simply be.

4-turning-5-year-olds
One fascinating aspect of nature school is its ever-changing environment. The hole dug on Monday might become a pond after Tuesday’s rain – perfect for imaginative play, bike washing, or jumping over (or into!). Nature school offers children the chance to learn in an environment that heightens our awareness. We come to understand why animals struggle to find food in winter when we observe the absence of leaves, berries, and plants. We discover the wonders of ice as temperatures drop, experiencing the mesmerizing sounds it makes when rocks are thrown. With the arrival of spring, we bask in the warm sun and witness the return of insects, buds, and sprouts. Our pre-K program intertwines discovery, compassion, and age-appropriate learning through play and real-life experiences.

5–10-year-olds
Does your child love learning through real-life experiences? Are you seeking an alternative education that offers creative, age-appropriate opportunities for discovery, friendship, connection with nature, and plenty of space for running, playing, climbing, and exploring? Our program for 5 to 10-year-olds provides small class sizes (maximum of 16 children), licensed and highly educated teachers, and a nature-based curriculum tailored to each child’s interests. We prioritize social, emotional, and educational growth, meeting children where they are and valuing them for who they are.
